MOUNTAIN BIKING: Myles Standish State Forest

← MA BOUND BROOK DNSTRM BOUND BK RD WELLFLEET MA Single Tracks →

Description

There is something for everyone here including paved bike paths, unpaved fire access roads, bridle paths, and some great singletrack! My two favorite routes are the "Never Ending Trail" which is down by Fearing and Charges Pond and the East Reservoir Trail which circles around the reservoir. This however does not even scratch the surface of trails in the forest and my recommendation is to just show up, bring plenty of water, a map and compass as I mentioned, and get LOST! It is not a very rocky area but does have its fair share of roots and can be a little soft because of the sandy soil and the pine groves. Mud is very scarce but there are a few sections where you can get nice and mucky if that is your thing. It is actually best after a good rain as the track gets harder and faster. Keep in mind that hunting season starts November 30th and the trails are closed on weekends during hunting season. Don't want to get Dick Cheney'ed. Have fun!
